Tension - Release it with these six exercises

Everyday life is full of stress, pressure and rush. No wonder then that there is tension.  Tension can occur in the muscles, and when prolonged, it causes pain and even more serious ailments.

Considering that stress and anxiety are now the main causes of many diseases and ailments, it is very important to learn to relieve them as soon as we notice their first symptoms.

Why does stress cause muscle tension?

The tension in the muscles prepares the body to defend itself. It turns out, however, that when severe stress occurs, our body is unable to recognize what type of danger we are dealing with.

6. Tension – what to do to discharge it?

If you feel anxious and tired, or feel that your daily tasks are overwhelming you, be sure to try them:

  • Be in a quiet, well-ventilated place.
  • Stand (you can also do them sitting if you want) with your legs together, close your eyes, relax and breathe deeply.
  • The head should be slightly raised in a natural position.
  • Let the arms hang loosely on both sides. If you are sitting down, place your hands on your thighs.
  • Arms pulled back, as if you wanted to join the shoulder blades. Thanks to this, the tension will dissipate and you will feel relieved.
  • Then, shift the weight of your torso down and towards your stomach.

  • Once you are completely relaxed, imagine your head rubbing against the sky while your feet are firmly on the ground.
  • If at some point you feel your body sway slightly from side to side, don’t change anything – let it release whatever it has inside until it calms down by itself. Thanks to this, you eliminate tension.
  • Try to stay in this position for about 5 minutes. Let your mind relax and don’t think about your worries at this point.
  • When a few minutes are up, rub your hands together and massage your face, neck and nape.

These simple exercises will help you get rid of the tension that may have built up as a result of the stress and worry you face every day.
