Preparation time : approximately 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 400 grams of fresh boneless tuna
  • 2 eggs
  • bread crumbs (as needed)
  • milk (as needed)
  • salt (to taste)
  • ginger and / or parsley (optional)

How to make tuna burgers

  1. Make sure the tuna has no bones. If you see any, remove them with tweezers.
  2. Cut the tuna fillet into 1 cm cubes. Add salt and mix to evenly salt all pieces of fish. Set aside.
  3. Break the eggs into a bowl. Add the ginger and parsley (this step is optional) and stir. Set aside.
  4. Dip the breadcrumbs in the milk. This way, tuna burgers will have a smooth texture. We recommend starting with a little breadcrumbs and a little milk. The cutlets should be moist, but not soaked.
  5. Transfer the soaked breadcrumbs to a bowl of eggs. Mix it up.
  6. Add the diced tuna fillet and mix with your hands until you get a smooth dough. If it’s too liquid, add more breadcrumbs. If it is too dry, add some milk. To make the cutlets more elastic, add more soaked breadcrumbs.
  7. Put the mixture in the fridge for at least half an hour.
  8. Once it has cooled down, shape the tuna chops. To do this, scoop up some of the mixture with a spoon, make a ball and then flatten it with your hands. Use your fingers to give the cutlets a round shape.
  9. Fry the shaped cutlets over medium heat until you feel ready.
  10. Serve with the toppings of your choice.

Tuna fillet burgers with garlic

Another option is to make tuna (bluefin) tuna cutlets.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams of tuna fillets
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • bread crumbs (as needed)
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • ginger (optional)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Preparation

  1. Prepare tuna if you bought raw. Make sure it’s boneless.
  2. Cut the tuna fillet into small cubes. The smaller the cubes, the better. Add salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
  3. Peel a clove of garlic. The easiest way to do this is by putting it in the jar and shaking it. The skin will come off in no time! Then chop it finely.
  4. Mix the tuna with the chopped garlic.
  5. Add eggs, ginger, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  6. Add breadcrumbs slowly until a firm but plastic dough is formed.
  7. Put the cake in the fridge for at least 40 minutes. In this way, the flavors will become saturated.
  8. Take the cake out of the fridge and prepare the patties in the same way as explained in the previous recipe.
  9. Fry until cooked thoroughly and serve with salad or bread.
